Look closely, the strap is anchored to the trailer hitch, not the roll cage. If anything were to go wrong, the Ranger would get dragged rather than rolled. Don has some control over the flight line from a second strap attached at the anchor strap carabiner. Can't pull much line in or let it out much, but you can use it to pop a cell back open when things start to fold in.
