An experiment to see if it can do a 5 gallon starter. Answer: Not really. The box can support a full pail no problem, but two little one inch stir bars just can't move that volume. At two gallons it had the fluid moving, no vortex, but it was stirring. At 4 or 5 gallons there were dead zones in the fluid that didn't move at all.
